Thanks to all the advice on Ask a Manager, I feel like I was able to prepare well for the interviews and negotiating an offer — when the offer came through I was able to confidently ask for a higher salary, and they increased it to about half of what I asked for! And even though the salary was the only part of the compensation package I asked about, they also increased the sign-on bonus (I’ve never even received a sign-on bonus before!)
