But several states are concerned that in the current economy many companies are offering unpaid internships that are violating minimum wage laws. When there is a company breaking the law, you are better off getting a lawyer before talking to local, state, or federal law enforcement. First, that the employee is hourly rather than salaried, and second, that they don’t make up the time at the end of the day.
