My advice is to agree to do it only for people who (a) you like, (b) already have a reasonable balance of give and take in their relationship with you, (c) aren’t expecting you to do work that they should be doing themselves, and (d) have demonstrated that they’ve already put real effort into working on it on their own — and even when all those conditions are met, you should still only do it if (e) you want to and (f) have the time, energy, and interest.
