These trends will continue through to the February jobs report, as oil prices show no signs of becoming more favourable to the North American energy industry, and retail continues its seasonal adjustment. Wage growth continues to be positive but slow, with an average increase in January of 12 cents.

Do minimum wage jobs expect you to accept on the spot, rather than asking for time to think it over? I’m retiring and plan to get a minimum wage job to supplement my social security income. It’s my impression that in minimum wage work, the expectation is that the job should be accepted or rejected immediately when it’s offered. Often, yes, I think so too — at least assuming that we’re talking about something like retail or food service work.
