Real Career Girls CEO Spotlight: Annbeth Eschbach, Exhale Spa

Ms. Career Girl

And to me, that means sorting out what the brand and Company needs to be successful, and structuring the organization, business practices, and culture to address those needs. In order for someone to be a good cultural fit, they need to be engaged, passionate, soulful, a team player, and have a very high work ethic. For others, who thrive in a high energy, high work ethic, and high achievement culture, Exhale is a rewarding, fulfilling environment and career.

It's nice to see your real sense of humor emerging…not all obsessed with the whackjob east coast definition of success (money, plastic surgery, mental illness…yikes, how they can get anyone to live in NY, Boston or DC is beyond me!) Is this your first time here?

Reality and the City

Ms. Career Girl

The people you meet, the opportunities you get and the culture you experience are priceless. Car-culture is something I’ve written about pretty extensively over at my blog. Not sure if they have it in Chicago but I know in Boston some of my friends use it and love it.

From $0-100million with no sales people. The Atlassian 10 commandments for startups.

reCareered

Business of Software 2011 takes place in Boston - 24-26th October.  When we started off last year in 2002, it was pretty much just the enterprise model was all that existed. There’s a company, I have friends that work at a hot startup at the moment, they do a lot of hot stuff around data analytics, they’ve raised 11 million dollars, they’ve got top VC’s, a great board, and people are leaving in droves because the company didn’t spend any time building its culture.

You can be happier by reading this post | Penelope Trunk's Brazen.

Penelope Trunk

It might be because there is culture, things to do. But there is not nearly the range of interestingness (restaurants, jobs, culture, diversity of population, etc) that there is in NYC. I had a comfortable, relatively happy life in Boston but got antsy and moved to Budapest because I wanted to experience new things. Because challenge and stimulation and variety and culture are what make my life interesting, and that makes me feel happy. Is this your first time here?

First, be honest about what you want | Penelope Trunk's Brazen.

Penelope Trunk

The first thing about understanding another culture is understanding that understanding takes time. I've since moved away and have lived and/or spend considerable time in the Pacific NW, Southern California, the Carolinas, Boston, and New York City. I research daily about where we should/could live–abroad, somewhere warmer, in europe–we desperately want to go back–we want to be a part of the lifestyle and the culture there. How to be more creative at work | Penelope Trunk's Brazen Careerist

Penelope Trunk

New York magazine has perfected a way to showcase the thrill that is behind the brilliance of low-brow culture. I loved the pay-per-view art anecdote from that last link, the one written in 2002, but not everyone is going to click on it, nor does it cite how you or one of your colleagues has been creative at work, which I think would be more believable than Mr. Portnoy. I got introduced to it when I was studying abroad by a buddy of mine from Boston.
