This was competing with my second favorite happy memory of finally getting a family friend's dog to settle and calm down at his first big party when he was terrified of everyone around (he had been likely abused before our friends took him in). I have never been surrounded by happy people until I lived in Wisconsin. Wisconsin does quite well :) I am at a crossroads, maybe. If you ask a bunch of people in Wisconsin if they're happy, they'll just say yes. The rate of premature births among african american women is higher than for whites regardless of socio- economic status, whereas in Africa the rate of premature births is much lower – essentially the same as for white woman in the US.

There were lots of people who told me that the family was insane and that the guy should always choose me before the farm but I decided that if you want to live on a farm, you have to live by those values, so I should go with what the farm family comments told me.
